Personally I believe I did fairly well in the negotiations and I wasn’t too surprised with my score compared to my partner or other members of the class. When I was negotiating I used some of my poker techniques in where you try to make the other players thinks what you’re doing is for one reason and not the other. For example sometimes I would hesitate for a term that I really wanted making it seem like he was getting a better deal from me. This would further convince him that his decisions are beneficial to him and that he would be getting a better deal out of the negotiation. I think my negotiation skills are a really good view of how I deal with conflicts in my life. I often like to make people think they’re “winning” one over me when in reality I want exactly what they think I don’t want. Over all I was satisfied with my performance, however if I was completely heartless and set out to get what I want I would have gotten way more points. I think the biggest thing I’ve learned from this exercise is that I can control the level of negotiation tactics that I possess. I say this because I think my methods are a little deceptive and to some people, when used at the wrong times, can be seen as being conniving.
